Suffering in Syria and Iraq

Not only is this horrible news, but we helped cause this mess, and have some responsibility to help clean it up. It is good, therefore, that President Obama is helping in fight against ISIS.

I have visited camps before, but this time the pain left me speechless.

1 Response to Suffering in Syria and Iraq

  1. From the NYT Comments:

“There is a great temptation to turn inward, to focus on our own troubles.”

We played a big role in making these troubles.

    We destroyed Iraq.

We lead the coalition that uses insurgency (terrorism anywhere else) to attempt the overthrow of Syria’s government.

Saddam and Assad were and are pretty awful. But then, this is awful too. We managed to make awful much worse.

These are “our troubles.” We are still making them worse. We still lead the insurgency into Syria. Iraq’s failed government is the one we set up and support.
